Dental Bridge

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is one or more false teeth, also called a pontic, which is fused to two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth or teeth. This is called a fixed bridge. This dental procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.

In areas of your mouth that aren't used for chewing, such as your front teeth, there is another type of bridge that can be used. It is called a cantilever bridge. Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the open space. Bridges can reduce your risk of gun disease, help correct some bite issues and even improve your speech.

If you are committed to your oral hygiene, a dental bridge can last as many as ten years or more.
